Changes announced for paternity leave
Under current legislation fathers/partners can take paternity leave at the statutory rate of pay (currently £172.48 per week) in a 1 or 2 week block. Leave can be taken within the first 8 weeks of the child being born or adopted.
The government has just announced it will be amending legislation to give fathers/partners more flexibility on when and how they take paternity leave.
What’s changing?
Father’s /partners will be able to split their paternity leave and pay into 2 separate blocks of 1 week and they’ll be able to do this at any point during the first year of the child being born or adopted.
