This year’s theme is ‘Movement.’
What can be done to help people ‘move’ to improve their mental health.
Being active really helps – 56% of adults say being active helps to manage stress.
There can be many barriers to being active like time, finances, and lack of confidence. As an employer there are many things you can do to support your employees.
During mental health awareness week try to encourage:
- Walking meetings where possible and practical
- Getting outside at lunch time
- Lunchtime or after work sport/social activities
- Wellbeing conversations – have 121’s to talk about how people are rather than work
There are lots of options for a longer-term wellbeing strategy like:
- Introducing a Bike to Work scheme
- Gym memberships
- Employee assistance programs (EAP)
