Today is Diwali, the festival of lights.
Diwali is India’s biggest holiday of the year, celebrating the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil and the human ability to overcome.
Diwali is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all over the world, with Leicester in the UK holding the largest Diwali celebrations outside of India!
During Diwali, people like to decorate their homes with lights and oil lamps, which are said to help Lakshmi (the Hindu goddess of wealth) find her way into their homes, bringing prosperity in the following year!
