Employment (Allocation of Tips) Act 2023

The Tipping Act was granted Royal Assent on 2 May 2023.

What does it mean?

Under the Act, employers are required to pass tips on to workers.

Employers will need to follow a new statutory Code of Practice when distributing tips and in some circumstances will need to have a Tipping Policy in place.

Workers will have a new right to request a copy of their tipping record.

When does it happen?

It comes into force on 1st October 2024.
